London Marathon 2027

I'm fundraising for...

In April 2027 I'm running the London Marathon for Scope — a charity creating a fairer society for disabled people.

This one's personal. My sister is disabled, and I've seen how much harder everyday life can be when the world isn't built for you — and how much the right support changes everything. That's what Scope does: practical help for disabled people and their families, and the longer fight to change attitudes and end the inequality they face every day.

This will be my third marathon. But running it is the easy part — the real challenge is hitting my goal of £2,300 for Scope, and I can't do that without you.

Whatever you can give goes straight to changing lives. Join me — let's end disability inequality, together. 🧡

Why I'm Running the London Marathon for Scope

Oct 14, 2026 · @Omar

In April 2027 I'll line up at the start of the London Marathon. It will be my second World Marathon Major, and this time I'm not running it just for me.

Why Scope

My sister is disabled. Growing up alongside her, I saw how much harder ordinary things can be when the world isn't designed with you in mind: getting around, getting the right support, being taken seriously. I also saw how much difference the right help makes when it shows up.

That's what Scope does. It gives disabled people and their families practical support and advice, and it campaigns to change the attitudes and systems that make life harder than it needs to be. When I was offered a charity place, choosing Scope was easy.

The road to London

Last month I ran the Berlin Marathon, my first Major, and very little went to plan. Our luggage went missing with nearly all of my wife's and our toddler's clothes in it. Race week turned into shopping runs for basics, and the bag only turned up the night before the race.

Then my recovery numbers dropped sharply in the final days. On paper, I wasn't ready. I ran anyway and finished. It reminded me that months of steady work count for more than a few bad days, and that nobody gets to a start line alone.

London will be harder in every way. Training starts through a Toronto winter, with early mornings and cold long runs, and a family who already gives up a lot so I can do this.

Why I'm asking for your help

I've been fundraising for charity for about ten years, mostly through events at work. That includes riding more than 200 km from Toronto to Niagara for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation's Carry the Fire. I know how much generosity it takes, and I don't ask for it lightly.

My goal for Scope is £2,300. The training is up to me, but the fundraising isn't something I can do on my own. Every donation, whatever the size, goes to supporting disabled people and their families. The suggested amounts on my fundraising page show what each gift helps fund.

What's next

I'll post updates here through the winter: training milestones, setbacks (there will be some), and how close we're getting to the goal. If you can donate, thank you. If you can't, sharing my page helps just as much.

See you in London.
