London Marathon 2027

I'm participating in the TCS London Marathon 2027 to raise vital funds for Scope.

This marathon means a lot more to me than simply 26.2 miles.

A few years ago, following my COVID vaccinations, I developed neurological problems which had a huge impact on life for me and my family. Things I had once taken for granted suddenly weren't so simple anymore, and I found myself having to deal with a reality I never expected.

I had become disabled.

Since then, it's been a rollercoaster of seeing different professionals and trying different treatments, without the success I'd hoped for but I refuse to give up.

In an attempt to get healthy and active again, I started a Couch to 5K programme. Every run became a small reminder that, despite everything, I was still moving forward.

Now I'm taking that fight all the way to the 2027 London Marathon.

But here's the thing…

I'm not fighting alone.

Disability affects around 1 in 4 people, and behind that statistic are millions of individual stories, challenges and lives affected by barriers that many of us simply don't see.

That's why I've partnered with Scope.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to fight my own battles, but not everyone has the ability, opportunity or voice to fight theirs.

Scope fights for a fairer society for disabled people — challenging the barriers, inequality and attitudes that can hold people back.

So this marathon isn't just about my battle. It's about helping other disabled people who shouldn't have to fight alone.

I'll be putting my body through 26.2 miles.

But if I can turn those miles into awareness, support and funding for Scope, every painful step will be worth it.

If you can donate, thank you. If you can't, sharing my page could help just as much.

Let's fight back together.

Week 1

Saturday 22nd Aug
Week 1 – And We're Off!

Well, what a first week! 🏃‍♂️

I honestly wasn't expecting to have raised £564 in the first week of my London Marathon 2027 fundraising. That's a pretty amazing start, and I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the fundraiser or simply sent me a message of support.

It really does mean a lot.

The marathon itself is still a long way off, so this week has really been about getting things started. I've done a couple of trial runs to see how I'm feeling and, perhaps more importantly, to remind myself that I've got a LOT of training ahead of me! 😂

Things officially step up next week, though.

Tomorrow I'm meeting with Andy, Chairman of Ashford Striders Running Club and the man behind AF Run Coaching. I'm really looking forward to sitting down with him, talking through the plans and officially getting started with my marathon training next week.

I'm sure that's when it will all start to feel a little more real!

Alongside the training, I've also been busy working on the fundraising side of things. I've already managed to collect some amazing raffle prizes from some fantastic local businesses, which will be up for grabs at an upcoming bingo night.

There's some really good stuff already lined up, but I'll have much more information about the bingo night and the prizes in the coming week, so keep an eye out for that! 👀

So, Week 1 is done.

£564 raised. ✅

A few trial runs under my belt. ✅

I couldn't have asked for a better start.
