London Marathon 2027

I'm fundraising for...

For me, running the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Scope is about much more than taking on the 26.2 miles.

There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, around one in four of us, yet disabled people continue to face barriers that many of us never have to think about. They are twice as likely to be unemployed, accessing care can be a struggle, and the cost of living is often higher. This simply isn't right.

One of my best mates since childhood lives with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and is unable to walk. Growing up together, I saw some of the difficulties he faced, especially when he was younger, in feeling different from everyone else and wanting greater independence. At the same time, I’ve had the privilege of seeing how far he has come.

He remains one of the most positive people I know and, all these years later, we’re still best mates. Our whole friendship group is incredibly lucky to have him. He’s a big part of the reason why I’ve chosen to run for Scope.

Taking on a marathon will be a massive personal challenge, but it’s nothing compared with the challenges that so many disabled people face every day. I’m incredibly proud to be supporting Scope and hopefully raising as much as I can for a cause that genuinely means a lot to me.
