London Marathon 2027

I’m running the London Marathon for something far more personal than running.

Hello everyone!

Some of you will know me through my sporting exploits. But very few people will know the personal reason why running the London Marathon in 2027 means so much to me.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to receive a charity place to run the TCS London Marathon 2027 for Scope.

And this is about much more than running 42.2kilometres (26.2 miles).

When I was a child, an undiagnosed ear infection caused permanent nerve damage and significant high-frequency hearing loss. I now rely on hearing aids, but I can't wear them when I’m running or competing in sport.

That can make something as simple as communicating with people, hearing instructions, or knowing what is happening around me surprisingly difficult.

It’s something I don't often talk about.

But it has given me a personal connection to Scope’s mission of creating a society where disabled people can enjoy equality and fairness.

So, for once, I’m not asking you to sponsor me because I’m attempting to run a fast marathon.

I’m asking you to help me make the miles count for something bigger.

I know everyone is asked to support charities, and the last thing I want is for this to feel like just another fundraising request.

Would it be unreasonable to ask you to help me make a difference?

Whether it's R100, R250, R500, £5, £10, £20 or whatever you feel comfortable, every donation will help.

And if you can't donate, sharing this post could be just as valuable. You might reach someone who can.

I’ll be training hard for the next year. There will be plenty of miles, plenty of early mornings and, hopefully, one very fast 42.2kilometres (26.2 miles) in London.

But this time, I'll have a reason beyond the finish line.

If you’re able to help, I'd be incredibly grateful. ❤️
